Arrest:  Al Adham was arrested during a crackdown on Egyptian women video creators under allegations of protecting Egyptian family values. On 14 May 2020, security forces arrested Al-Adham from her car in Giza Governorate. Security forces seized her personal laptop and a mobile phone.

  • Arrest: On 14 May 2020, security forces arrested Al-Adham from her car in Giza Governorate. Security forces seized her personal laptop and a mobile phone. The arrest came after the Public Prosecution issued an arrest warrant against her concerning Case No. 1087 /2020.
  • Charges: Mawaddah Al-Adham is charged with “Violating Egyptian family values” under the controversial cyber crimes law and “Human Trafficking.”On 11 June 2020, the Public Prosecution referred Al-Adham to trial in Case No. 1047 of 2020. The case also involved Ahmed Sameh Attia, the admin of Al-Adham’s pages on social media.On 27 July 2020, the Cairo Economic Court sentenced Al-Adham to two years in prison and fined her 300,000 Egyptian pounds.
  • On 12 January 2021, the Appeal court upheld the fine. It reversed the prison sentence due to Al-Adham’s young age.
  • Despite that, Al-Adham remains in prison in connection to another case, No. 4917 /2020. she was referred during the trial in the previous issue. On 21 June 2021, the Cairo Criminal Court sentenced Al-Adham to six years and a fine of 200,000 EGP in Case No. 4917 /2020, on allegations of using her social media platforms to influence girls to work with her in content creation with the Egyptian prosecution considered “Human Trafficking” The Association for Freedom of Thought and Expression (AFTE), in cooperation with Ahmed Ragheb Firm for Law and Legal Consultation, filed a request to appeal the sentence before the cassation Court. the court set a hearing session to review the case on 11 February 2023.

Arbitrary detention for posting videos on social media; she is convicted of human trafficking without sufficient evidence and her assets were frozen.
