Ismail Al-Iskandarani

Arrest: On November 29, 2015, Ismail was arrested from Hurghada Airport while returning from Berlin, based on a warrant for arrest and summons issued by the Public Prosecution.

On December 01, 2015, al-Iskandarani was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution, and the prosecution began an investigation with him and included him in Case 569 of 2015, and the prosecution continued to renew his pretrial detention for 150 days.

On November 20, 2016, the court issued a decision to release him, but the prosecution appealed the decision.

On November 22, 2016, the Public Prosecution’s appeal against the decision to release al-Iskandarani before the 28th Criminal Chamber headed by Counselor Hisham Farid was accepted, and the renewal of his pretrial detention continued for two years without allowing the defense team to attend the renewal sessions.

On January 6, 2018, a decision was issued to refer al-Iskandarani to the Military Prosecutor in connection with Case 18 of 2018 North Cairo Military Felonies

On May 22, 2018, the military court sentenced al-Iskandarani to 10 years in prison, accusing him of joining a group established against the law, broadcasting false news, and publishing a military secret.
Detention conditions
Al-Iskandarani’s health condition deteriorated over the past seven years in prison, as he contracted diabetes and gout during his imprisonment.
